Frequently Asked Questions

🐾 Our adoption fees are $25 for a single piggy, $40 for a pair (2), and $60 for a trio (3)
🐾 We provide the supplies needed to care for your piggy! You’ll get a cage, hay, pellets, a water bottle, and more. 🐾 All we ask is that you provide daily veggies for them. 🐾 We cover the cost of vet visits but may ask you to transport them there. Our vet is in Clarence. 🐾 We will ask you to bring them back to the rescue in Williamsville if someone is interested in adopting them BUT…Fosters get to decide if they want to adopt their piggy first! It’s a foster parent perk!
🐾 Let’s talk cage sizes! When you adopt from us, we require picture proof that you have a cage that is at least 8 sq. ft. The reason for this is that guinea pigs need room to move. Many pet store cages are not even close to the minimum cage space needed for them to live happy and healthy lives. Where do I get an appropriate cage? Amazon has two Midwest cages that meet minimum requirements. We like them both for different reasons, but the best cage for potential adopters depends on their lifestyle (other pets, young kids). https://a.co/d/e8O5lpU https://a.co/d/24sCYOh Many people opt for the second cage as it has a hard plastic bottom and opens from the front so you’re not reaching down to pick up your furry friends. It’s important to note though, that the plastic ramp is not safe and should be thrown out. The other option is Kavee cages. These cages are made from grids and coroplast and come in a large variety of sizes and color choices. Kavee cages are our favorite and they cost the same as a cage from Amazon! You can customize them with lids and stands which also makes cleaning much easier. https://kavee.com/collections/supplies-to-build-make-modify-c-c-cage-guinea-pigs As always, we’re happy to answer any questions about proper care before and after adoption!
